Local Development Officer

About the role

We have been fortunate to have worked with Local Development Officers (LDOs) since 2007, and they have provided key support to local volunteer teams wanting to grow Scouting for even more young people and adults.

Through a range of projects, LDOs have supported opening new Groups, opening new sections within existing Groups, raising the profile of Scouting in local communities through a range of events, and providing support to existing volunteers on how to continue to grow Scouting.

You can take a look at a selection of case studies to get a flavour for some of the many successes. We are looking forward to building on these in the coming months and years ahead.

Meet Kim Williams, LDO

Hi, my name is Kim and I am your LDO. I am joining from the NSPCC where I ran the ‘speak out safe safeguarding’ programme in schools across Berkshire. Working closely with volunteers, I am always amazed at their dedication and commitment.

Previous to this I worked in the IT industry running projects and training teams.

I live in Earley and my son attended Scouts for many years. I am passionate about safeguarding children and giving every child the best opportunities.

I am very excited to be working with the county to achieve growth and
I look forward to getting to know everyone over the coming months.

Please do not hesitate to get in touch.
